Minister To Host Whittlesea Forum On NDIS

The Whittlesea community is invited to a forum to hear about the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) on Friday, 20 November, 2015.

Minister for Disability Martin Foley is hosting the forum. He will join with Member for Yan Yean Danielle Green and the National Disability Insurance Agency to talk about how to work together to prepare for the rollout of the NDIS in the Whittlesea area from July 2016.

The NDIS is a national program that will provide a new way of delivering services and support for Australians with permanent and significant disability. The NDIS will build a completely new national disability support system.

It will give people with a disability and their families more choice and control over the services they receive, to help them achieve their goals and live full and active lives.

The Andrews Labor Government recently reached a historic agreement with the Commonwealth, securing the roll-out of the NDIS across Victoria from July 2016.

The forum is being held at Farm Vigano, 10 Bushmans Way, South Morang, from 9am to 11am.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing Martin Foley

“The NDIS will mean a fairer system, with 105,000 Victorians receiving support when it is fully rolled out. The Andrews Labor Government is committed to the NDIS because this is about transforming the lives of Victorians with disabilities, their families and carers.”

“This is one of the largest social reforms ever undertaken in Australia. People with disability will have a far wider range of supports to choose from, will have real control over how they are supported, and will be better helped to achieve their own level of independence.”
