Minister Hennessy will launch the Victorian Heart Maps

Robin Scott MP has welcomed the Minister for Health and Minister for Ambulance Services Jill Hennessy’s launch of the Victorian Heart Maps.
These maps reveal the rates of heart attack and cardiac arrest in Victoria, including Preston.

The data taken from the last six years of Ambulance Victoria’s out-of-hospital cardiac arrest data, and hospitalisation rates for heart attack by LGA, shows that the areas with the highest rates of cardiac arrest are:

1. Loddon
2. Yarriambiack
3. Towong
4. Southern Grampians
5. Hindmarsh

In Darebin out-of-hospital cardiac arrest is ranked 16 of 8.1 per 10,000 persons from 2008 – 2013.

The Government has provided $2.7 million to roll out 1000 defibrillators for Victorian clubs and sports facilities over the next four years.

Also, in the State Budget, the Government has provided $15 million to plan for the new Victorian Heart Hospital.

The Victorian Heart Hospital will be Australia’s first specialist heart hospital and will treat cardiac diseases from early childhood to advanced adult life, undertake ground-breaking research, and train the next generation of Victorian heart specialists.
