Labor Government To Strengthen Broadmeadows Precinct
Treasurer Tim Pallas today announced a boost to three projects in the heart of Broadmeadows.
Speaking at the Broadmeadows Economic and Cultural Development Summit, organised and championed by Member for Broadmeadows Frank McGuire, Mr Pallas announced funding of $1.3 million to begin the revitalisation of the heart of Broadmeadows.
Mr Pallas indicated that $1 million has been allocated to transform Pascoe Vale Rd into a central boulevard with tree planting, road works and improved crossings.
A further $150,000 has been allocated to redesign the loop road around the central precinct and seek partners for development of offices and car parks to reshape the precinct.
Another $150,000 has also been allocated to advance the development of the Meadowlink Park along the old railway easement, to create new access to central Broadmeadows from the east.
The land is now publicly owned but this money will fund the planning to turn it into useable public space and a bicycle and pedestrian pathway.
Mr Pallas also spoke about the challenges facing Victoria and the region, and the Andrews Labor Government’s strong plan to create more jobs.
The Labor Government’s initiatives include the Back to Work Scheme; investing directly in economic development; and leveraging investment in infrastructure to generate jobs.
He also spoke about the projects taking shape in the area that will impact Broadmeadows residents, including the widening of the Tullamarine Freeway and the M80 (Western Ring Road) upgrade.
